Keep watch.
Keep everything.

You own everything — the cameras, the network, every second of footage. No contracts, no monthly subscriptions, no one but you holding the keys.

Free Home Walkthrough · No Obligation · You Keep The Plan

On-site and local — your footage never touches someone else's cloud.

The difference

You shouldn't have to rent your own front door.

Most security companies don't sell you a system — they rent you one. You sign a three- or five-year contract, your footage lives on their servers, and you pay every month just to watch your own front door. Stop paying and it all goes dark. Lightkeeper works the other way around: you buy the system once, it lives in your home, and it's yours to keep. Nothing to cancel, because there was never a monthly bill to begin with.

CAMERA LOCAL VAULT FAMILY NO CLOUD UPLINK

Everything stays inside your four walls — and you still see and control it all from your phone — cameras, doorbell, locks, lights, sensors — wherever you are, with no cloud account required. The footage just never lives on someone else's server.

in mandatory monthly fees

We make our living installing systems well — once — not by renting you back your own peace of mind every month for the rest of your life.

What we install

Three systems. One promise — it's all yours.

Every Lightkeeper system is built on the same principle: the same gear that secures businesses and offices, configured locally, handed over with the keys.

Lightkeeper Home

Security & networking

Professional cameras, a smart doorbell, and a local recorder on a network engineered to keep your family's devices and your cameras safely apart. The footage records to a drive in your home — not a server in someone else's building.

  • Local NVR recording
  • Pro-grade cameras
  • Segmented home network
  • Smart doorbell & entry
Lightkeeper Watch

Family wellness

A quiet way to know the people — and animals — you love are safe and moving through their day. Private, family-only awareness, without cameras in private spaces and without a pendant anyone has to wear.

  • Family-only video
  • Camera-free presence sensing
  • Daily-rhythm awareness
  • Nothing to wear or charge
Lightkeeper Vault

Storage & data

Where it all lives: a private vault for your footage and your family's photos, documents, and phone backups — on-site, encrypted, and backed up the way a business would, so a dead drive or a cut wire never costs you what matters most. One drive you own, instead of storage you rent from iCloud or Google Drive every month.

  • On-site network storage
  • Encrypted at rest
  • Redundant drives
  • You hold the only keys

From $2,500paid once

It's the same commercial-grade hardware that protects businesses — specified for a home, without the enterprise price tag or licensing fees. Most homes start around $2,500, paid once. A national plan runs $40–60 every month — roughly $2,400–$3,600 every five years, forever, and you still own nothing. With Lightkeeper you break even in the first couple of years, then never pay a monthly fee again. We'll price your exact home at the free walkthrough.

Lightkeeper Watch · aging parents

The hardest call is the one you can't make at 2 a.m.

Most families don't want a camera staring at Mom. They want to know she's up, moving around the house, and going about her morning the way she always does — and a quiet alert if there's no sign of her up and about by mid-morning.

That's what Watch does — and in the rooms where a camera doesn't belong, it uses camera-free presence sensing that reads movement, not images. It's awareness, not surveillance, and everything stays inside the family. She keeps her privacy and her independence; you get to stop holding your breath.

Lightkeeper Watch is a private wellness-awareness system for families. It is not a medical device, a monitored alarm, or an emergency response service.

Lightkeeper Watch · kids & safe arrival

The 3:15 exhale.

The stretch between the last bell and the moment you get home is the longest part of a working parent's day. Lightkeeper turns it quiet: a gentle note the moment the front door opens and they're inside, the camera at the door so you can see a familiar face dropped them off, and a way to check in without a dozen "are you home yet?" texts.

It records to a drive in your home, family-only — no cloud account, no stranger watching. Just the small, steady reassurance that they're back safe.

Lightkeeper Watch · working alone

Nobody should be invisible out back.

He clears the driveway before light. He's up on the roof every fall, out in the woodlot or the back field where it's just him and the work. He'd never say it — but if something went wrong out there, it could be hours before anyone knew.

A quick glance tells you he's still at it, and lets you notice when he isn't. It won't call an ambulance and it isn't a medical alarm. It's the simple difference between working alone and being on your own.

Lightkeeper Watch · pets

Know they're okay, without wondering all day.

A rescue who's still learning to trust the quiet. A senior dog you'd rather check on than guess about. A new puppy, and a workday that feels too long. The same cameras and sensors that watch a home watch them too — so you can see they're settled, confirm the walker came, and know they're fine.

It records to a drive in your home, family-only, with no cloud subscription and no monthly fee. Your vet can point you straight here.

The Care Plan

Optional. It always will be.

$360 / year · optional on-site service

An optional service plan, not a subscription you're locked into. We keep your system patched and healthy with scheduled on-site visits — no remote access, no passwords held, we keep no keys to your system. Skip it, and everything still works. It's your hardware.

Cancel anytime and you keep every camera, every byte, and every night of footage. The plan is a service, never a leash.

For OTs & home-care teams

An awareness layer that respects your care plan — and your liability.

When you recommend something for a client's home, your name is on it. Lightkeeper is built to be a safe recommendation: ambient, dignity-preserving awareness that supports the family without crossing into medical territory.

  • Non-medical by design — awareness and notification, never medical monitoring, diagnosis, or emergency response.
  • Family-only access — no third-party monitoring centre, no strangers watching. The family sees their own home.
  • Preserves independence — no pendant to wear, and camera-free presence sensing where a camera doesn't belong. Nothing that signals "being watched."
  • No lock-in — the family owns everything outright, with no monitoring contract and no monthly fee.

Beyond the home · available on request

Off-grid, off the beaten path.

Farms and fields, work and construction sites, woodlots, and property the wires don't reach still need watching. We're bringing the same local-first, you-own-it approach to solar-powered, cellular-connected cameras for remote and off-grid sites — sold or leased.

It's newer ground for us, so the honest answer is: tell us about your site and we'll work out what's possible together.

Why Lightkeeper

A keeper never owned the sea.

They kept the light on — every night, through every storm — so everyone else could find their way home.

Lightkeeper was started by a computer scientist and lifelong Colchester County local who spent years building the same kind of camera, network, and storage system — owned outright, recorded locally — in his own home, and got tired of watching neighbours rent their own front doors from companies a thousand kilometres away.

The answer was to build security the way businesses build it — owned, local, engineered to outlast any one vendor — and then hand the keys to the family it protects. After that, the job is simple: keep the light on.

Helping from away

Arranging this for a parent — from Halifax, or further?

Most of the people who call us don't live in the same house as the person they're worried about. Plenty don't live in the province. You can set this up for your parents from wherever you are, and we'll handle the in-person part with care.

01

We talk first

A call with you to understand the home, the worry, and what your parent would actually be comfortable with.

02

We meet them respectfully

We walk the home in person, at their pace — framed as keeping their independence, not taking it away.

03

You stay in the loop

You're kept informed throughout, and the family — including you, from away — holds all the access.

Get started

Start with a conversation, not a contract.

We'll walk your home — or your parents' — talk through what actually matters to you, and leave you with a plan you own, whether or not you ever hire us.
